A sign-in sheet is one of those documents nearly every organisation needs and almost nobody wants to spend time building — reception desks, classrooms, clinics, building sites, community halls, committee meetings and volunteer shifts all run on some version of the same ruled table. This tool builds one to your own specification and fills the page properly, rather than handing you a fixed template you then have to fight.
Start from a preset — visitor log, class attendance, event registration, appointment schedule or volunteer shift — then edit the columns freely. Columns are just a list, one per line, so you can add whatever your situation actually needs: ID number, vehicle registration, badge returned, department, parent signature. Add |2 or |3 after a name to make that column proportionally wider, which matters because a signature or address column needs real room while a time column does not.
Switching on the pre-filled time column generates a fixed schedule down the left-hand side from a start time and an interval — 9:00, 9:15, 9:30 and so on. That turns the same sheet into an appointment or slot-booking page, where people sign against a time rather than writing one in. Times roll over midnight correctly if a schedule runs late.
Rather than asking for a row count and then quietly cutting rows off the bottom of the page, this tool works the other way around: you set how tall each row should be, and it fits as many rows as the page physically allows and tells you the number. Around 10 mm suits ordinary handwriting; go taller for signatures or if the sheet will be filled in standing up at a desk.
Everything is generated in your browser and your setup is remembered locally, so a sheet you use every week is one visit away rather than something you rebuild each time. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make one column wider than the others?
Add a weight after the column name, like Signature|2 or Address|3. That column becomes two or three times the width of a plain one. Columns with no weight are all equal.
How many rows will I get?
As many as fit the page at your chosen row height — the tool reports the count as you adjust it. Reduce the row height, use landscape, or trim the margin to fit more.
What does the pre-filled time column do?
It adds a left-hand column already filled with times running from your start time at a fixed interval, turning the sheet into an appointment or slot schedule. Leave it switched off for an ordinary sign-in sheet where people write their own times.
Can I use this for GDPR-sensitive visitor data?
The tool itself never sends anything anywhere — the sheet is generated in your browser. But a completed paper sign-in sheet holds personal data, so how you store, retain and dispose of it is your organisation's responsibility. Many sites deliberately avoid columns that expose one visitor's details to the next person signing.
