TOOL № 040 / PRINTABLES / RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER — NOTHING UPLOADED

Bauhaus Pattern Generator

Generate unique Bauhaus-style geometric patterns — adjust the grid, density, and color palette, then export as SVG, PNG, or a print-ready PDF.

Preview is shrunk to fit your screen. In the print dialog: set Margins to None and Scale to 100% / Actual size, and double-check the paper size matches what you selected above — otherwise your printer or browser may add its own margin or substitute a different paper size.

About this Bauhaus pattern generator

This tool fills a grid with randomly chosen geometric motifs — circles, quarter-circle corner curves, half-circle domes, right triangles, and dots — in the spirit of the bold, primary-color geometry associated with the Bauhaus school and its De Stijl contemporaries. Every cell gets its own background color and, usually, one shape drawn in a second color chosen to contrast against it, so shapes stay visually distinct from their background rather than blending in.

Adjust the grid size (3 to 12 columns and rows), choose how densely packed the pattern feels (Sparse leaves more cells empty for breathing room; Dense fills nearly every cell), and pick a color palette — five curated presets are included, from the classic red/blue/yellow/black Bauhaus palette to softer pastel and monochrome options, or switch to Custom and pick your own set of colors plus a background.

Hit Randomize as many times as you like until a pattern feels right — every click generates a completely new arrangement of shapes, colors, and positions from your current settings. Once you're happy with it, export as a scalable SVG (ideal for further editing in design software, since it stays crisp at any size), a PNG image (ready to use as-is), or print it directly / save it as a print-ready PDF sized to A4 or US Letter.

Useful for poster backgrounds, book cover textures, social media graphics, packaging patterns, or simply as printable decorative art — the grid-of-shapes approach this tool uses is a genuinely open-ended generator, not a fixed set of templates, so no two randomized patterns are likely to be identical.

Nothing you configure here is uploaded anywhere; every pattern is generated and rendered entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these patterns commercially?

Yes. Every pattern is generated fresh from simple geometric shapes and colors you choose — there's no copyrighted artwork or stock imagery involved, so you're free to use the output for personal or commercial projects.

What's the difference between SVG and PNG export?

SVG is a vector format that stays perfectly crisp at any size, ideal if you'll resize the pattern or edit it further in design software. PNG is a fixed-resolution image, simpler to drop straight into a document or social post.

Can I make my own color palette?

Yes, choose "Custom" from the palette row and pick as many colors as you like, plus a background color. Your custom palette is remembered the next time you visit.

What does the Density setting change?

It changes how many cells get a shape versus staying empty. Sparse leaves more open background showing through for a calmer look; Dense fills nearly every cell for a busier, more packed pattern.

Is anything about my pattern saved or uploaded?

Your settings (grid size, density, palette) are saved locally in your browser for convenience. The pattern itself is never uploaded anywhere — it's generated and rendered entirely on your device.
