About this Minesweeper game
Every square is either empty or hides a mine. Click a square to reveal it; if it's a number, that's how many of its up to eight neighbouring squares contain a mine. Click a mine and the round ends — clear every square that isn't a mine, and you win.
Your very first click is always safe. Mines aren't placed until after that click, specifically avoiding the square you chose, so the opening move can never end the game before it starts.
Right-click a square you suspect is a mine to flag it (long-press on a touch screen); a flagged square can't be accidentally revealed until you flag it again. Revealing a square with no adjacent mines automatically opens the whole connected empty area along with the numbered squares bordering it — the classic way a single click can clear a large section of the board at once.
Three difficulty levels use the traditional Minesweeper board sizes: Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. Expert's wider board scrolls horizontally on narrow screens rather than being squeezed to fit.

Can my first click ever be a mine?
No — mines are only placed after your first click, and never on the square you clicked, so the opening move is always safe.
Why did clicking one square open up a big area?
That square had zero mines touching it. Revealing a zero automatically reveals every other connected zero, plus the numbered squares that border that empty region — the classic Minesweeper "cascade."
How do I flag a square on a phone?
Long-press the square instead of right-clicking; the same flag toggle applies.
Does flagging every mine matter for winning?
No — you win by revealing every square that isn't a mine. Flags are just a memory aid for yourself; they aren't required to finish the board.
What happens when I click a mine?
All the mines on the board are revealed so you can see the full layout, and the board locks until you start a new game.
